Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the 49ers spent No. 89 on Iapani Laloulu, a name most had 70 spots down the list.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped wide receiver, which is a strange place to end up. Offensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
