Joe F DRAFTING FOR THEJets

Draft Grade — Jets
Overall
B
ValueB
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Jets let Walker fall and pounced. Final grade: B. The board owed the Jets one, and it paid up: Jalon Walker, the No. 23 name on the board, sitting there at slot 73 like a gift left on the doorstep. No fireworks, but a solid B.
Reaching for Hawes left real value on the table behind him. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with edge rusher the one that mattered most.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick Analysis
Pick7
Rnd1
Abdul Carter
In the 7th overall pick they get a disruptor off the edge at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick42
Rnd2
Tyler Warren
Tyler Warren in Round 2, Pick 10 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick73
Rnd3
Jalon Walker
Jalon Walker at the Round 3 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick110
Rnd4
Logan Brown
Logan Brown in pick 110 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick145
Rnd5
Dont'e Thornton Jr.
Dont'e Thornton Jr. in No. 145 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick162
Rnd5
CJ West
CJ West at the 162nd pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick186
Rnd6
Ajani Cornelius
They read the board right and Ajani Cornelius was the payoff at slot 186. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick207
Rnd6
Jackson Hawes
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jackson Hawes. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
