Somebody in pick 164 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Panthers sat still while O'Donnell Fortune, the No. 121 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.

They are betting Lachey proves the room right and everyone else wrong. That linebacker hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.

The skill positions did well by the weekend.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but linebacker.
