Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Panthers spent slot 164 on Theo Johnson, a name the board had a full 21 spots lower. The bottom line is a respectable B.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped linebacker, which is a strange place to end up. The Smith pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.
