Draft Grade — Panthers
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesB FutureB
A solid, sensible weekend for the Panthers: B.

The war room fell hard for Gavin Sawchuk, and it showed at No. 248: 133 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas. Good, not great, and the B says as much.

Weeks falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss. On the needs board they went 9 of 9, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.

Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick Analysis
Pick39 Rnd2 Dillon Thieneman
Somehow Dillon Thieneman was still sitting there in slot 39, and they pounced on premier safety value. The roster fit checks out.
Pick41 Rnd2 Kenyon Sadiq
Kenyon Sadiq at the 41st overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the tight end. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick47 Rnd2 Dante Moore
The board fumbled Dante Moore all the way to the Round 2 slot, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick51 Rnd2 Kevin Concepcion
They did well to land Kevin Concepcion in pick 51, just ahead of his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick70 Rnd3 Caleb Lomu
A tidy bit of business in the 70th pick, where Caleb Lomu graded well above the range. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick84 Rnd3 Iapani Laloulu
Iapani Laloulu at pick No. 84 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick105 Rnd4 Whit Weeks
Whit Weeks at Round 4, Pick 5 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick107 Rnd4 Jonah Coleman
They robbed the room for Jonah Coleman here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It fills a real need, too.
Pick143 Rnd5 Tim Keenan III
You do not let an interior defensive lineman like Tim Keenan III reach the Round 5 slot and blink. They did not. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick153 Rnd5 Vincent Anthony Jr.
They reached a country mile for Vincent Anthony Jr. at slot 153, and the board is aghast. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick193 Rnd6 Smith Snowden
Smith Snowden at pick 193 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick227 Rnd7 Trey Zuhn III
Value with a capital V on Trey Zuhn III in pick No. 227, a genuine coup. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick248 Rnd7 Gavin Sawchuk
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Gavin Sawchuk well ahead of where he belonged. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
