Draft Grade — Panthers
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB+ TradesB- FutureC
Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Panthers.

They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Jimmy Horn Jr., 100 picks early at the 230th overall pick.

That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. However the rest shakes out, Strong at that price is a win they earned. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick16 Rnd1 Mike Green
In slot 16 they get a double-digit-sack hope, though they paid up to get him. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick36 Rnd2 Nick Emmanwori
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Nick Emmanwori at the Round 2 slot is the proof. It fills a real need, too.
Pick47 Rnd2 Jayden Higgins
Jayden Higgins in No. 47 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick111 Rnd4 Anthony Belton
No edge and no loss on Anthony Belton in the 111th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick114 Rnd4 Jordan Phillips
Nothing to complain about; Jordan Phillips went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick115 Rnd4 Jeffrey Bassa
They liked Jeffrey Bassa enough to skip the value, taking him in pick No. 115. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick140 Rnd5 Dorian Strong
A tidy bit of business in the Round 5 slot, where Dorian Strong graded well above the range. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick146 Rnd5 Bhayshul Tuten
A reach for Bhayshul Tuten in pick 146; a little patience would have been rewarded. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick230 Rnd7 Jimmy Horn Jr.
Jimmy Horn Jr. at Round 7, Pick 14 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
