Draft Grade — Cardinals
Overall D-
ValueB- NeedB TradesF FutureB-
The Cardinals got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the D-.

Nobody else had Sawyer Robertson anywhere near No. 141. The Cardinals did, by 62 spots, and that gap is the whole story. Hard to defend, and the D- reflects that.

They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

The Capehart pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.

In short, the board sent warnings, and they will be hoping it was wrong.

Pick Analysis
Pick3 Rnd1 Caleb Downs
In pick 3 they get a two-high chess piece at fair value. More want than need.
Pick16 Rnd1 Olaivavega Ioane
In Round 1, Pick 16 they get a long-term starter on the line, reach and all. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick65 Rnd3 Austin Barber
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Austin Barber well ahead of where he belonged. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick112 Rnd4 Logan Jones
A reach on Logan Jones in pick No. 112; the board had better options right there. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick141 Rnd5 Sawyer Robertson
They left a pile of value on the table to take Sawyer Robertson this early at the Round 5 slot. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick150 Rnd5 DeMonte Capehart
Quietly one of the better values of the day, DeMonte Capehart at the 150th pick. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick181 Rnd6 Justin Jefferson
This one needs a full-page explanation: Justin Jefferson in pick No. 181, miles early. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick217 Rnd7 Jeff Caldwell
They paid sticker price for Jeff Caldwell in the 217th pick, and that is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
