Draft Grade — Cardinals
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB TradesA+ FutureB-
The Cardinals let Odunze fall and pounced. Final grade: B+.

If you want a masterclass in dealing, watch the Cardinals, who turned every swap into a profit this weekend.

The Burke pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at tight end. Odunze falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up. If Barron pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.

Pick Analysis
Pick11 Rnd1 Kool-Aid McKinstry
In No. 11 they get a ballhawk on the outside. More want than need.
Pick17 Rnd1 Chop Robinson
In Round 1, Pick 17 they get a disruptor off the edge at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick35 Rnd2 Rome Odunze
Rome Odunze in the 35th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick39 Rnd2 Jared Verse
Jared Verse at pick No. 39 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick43 Rnd2 Emeka Egbuka
They barely believed it either: Emeka Egbuka still on the board at slot 43. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick67 Rnd3 Byron Murphy II
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Byron Murphy II. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick73 Rnd3 Denzel Burke
A surprising call. With tight end still to address, they spent the Round 3 slot on Denzel Burke, a cornerback they were not short of.
Pick75 Rnd3 Jackson Powers-Johnson
Jackson Powers-Johnson at slot 75 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick81 Rnd3 Rod Moore
A straight-up fair deal on Rod Moore at No. 81, value and slot in agreement. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick83 Rnd3 McKinnley Jackson
McKinnley Jackson at pick No. 83 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick103 Rnd4 MarShawn Lloyd
They did well to land MarShawn Lloyd in pick 103, just ahead of his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick133 Rnd4 Sataoa Laumea
Sataoa Laumea at the 133rd overall pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick140 Rnd5 Jordan Travis
No edge and no loss on Jordan Travis in the 140th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick165 Rnd5 Devin Neal
They read the board right and Devin Neal was the payoff at Round 5, Pick 29. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick198 Rnd6 Ricky Pearsall
They took Ricky Pearsall at par in the 198th pick, which is nothing to complain about. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick220 Rnd6 Curtis Jacobs
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 220, where Curtis Jacobs graded well above the range. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick224 Rnd7 Jahdae Barron
A premium they did not need to pay, Jahdae Barron a notch or two before his time. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
