Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall
C-
ValueF
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Seahawks landed square in the muddy middle: C-. The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Seahawks reached some 380 spots for Marcus Major, and value like that does not grow back.
That Wilson pick is the receipt they will wave around later. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.
They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
If Amari Kight and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
Pick Analysis
Pick18
Rnd1
Amari Kight
In the Round 1 slot they get an anchor for the offensive line, a steep price for the projection. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick50
Rnd2
Jay Higgins
This one needs a full-page explanation: Jay Higgins in the 50th pick, miles early. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick52
Rnd2
Tyler Warren
They barely believed it either: Tyler Warren still on the board at pick No. 52. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick82
Rnd3
Tate Ratledge
A quiet steal in No. 82: Tate Ratledge for less than the market said. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick92
Rnd3
Marcus Major
Value said wait; Marcus Major in Round 3, Pick 28 says they were not listening. The roster fit checks out.
Pick137
Rnd4
Pat Bryant
A reach on Pat Bryant in pick 137; the board had better options right there. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick172
Rnd5
Jared Wilson
Jared Wilson at the 172nd pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick175
Rnd5
DJ Uiagalelei
A wild overpay on DJ Uiagalelei in pick No. 175, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick223
Rnd7
Joey Slackman
They reached a country mile for Joey Slackman at the 223rd overall pick, and the board is aghast. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick234
Rnd7
Isas Waxter
Isas Waxter at pick 234 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A minor need, but a need all the same.
