Draft Grade — Cardinals
Overall D
ValueB- NeedB- TradesF FutureC
Davis should have been long gone. The Cardinals pounced, and earned a D.

The phones were a trap the Cardinals kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal. Hard to defend, and the D reflects that.

The Fiske pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

The Stover pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at quarterback. Landing Davis that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and quarterback is still a hole.

Pick Analysis
Pick27 Rnd1 Taliese Fuaga
Taliese Fuaga slipping to No. 27 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick35 Rnd2 Quinyon Mitchell
Quinyon Mitchell in the 35th overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick40 Rnd2 Ladd McConkey
Ladd McConkey in the 40th pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick52 Rnd2 Braden Fiske
Braden Fiske at Round 2, Pick 20 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick66 Rnd3 Roman Wilson
A reach on Roman Wilson in the Round 3 slot; the board had better options right there. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick71 Rnd3 Adisa Isaac
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Adisa Isaac at slot 71. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick80 Rnd3 Cooper Beebe
A tidy little value on Cooper Beebe in slot 80, a step better than break-even. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick90 Rnd3 Malachi Corley
They read the board right and Malachi Corley was the payoff at pick 90. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick103 Rnd4 Darius Robinson
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Darius Robinson well ahead of where he belonged. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick105 Rnd4 Cade Stover
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Cade Stover adds a TE-EDGE and leaves quarterback untouched.
Pick116 Rnd4 Dominick Puni
They let Dominick Puni come to them and pounced at the 116th overall pick. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick120 Rnd4 Leonard Taylor III
A clean, defensible pick in Round 4, Pick 20 with a little surplus value in Leonard Taylor III. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick130 Rnd4 Cole Bishop
They paid sticker price for Cole Bishop in No. 130, and that is fine. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick137 Rnd5 Ben Sinnott
Ben Sinnott in the 137th pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. The roster fit checks out.
Pick138 Rnd5 Drake Nugent
A reach for Drake Nugent in Round 5, Pick 2; a little patience would have been rewarded. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick149 Rnd5 Austin Booker
They liked Austin Booker enough to skip the value, taking him in the Round 5 slot. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick166 Rnd5 Ty'Ron Hopper
Value with a capital V on Ty'Ron Hopper in the 166th pick, a genuine coup. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick167 Rnd5 Cody Schrader
By-the-book stuff, Cody Schrader at No. 167 squarely in line with his ranking. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick169 Rnd5 Sincere Haynesworth
Good price on Sincere Haynesworth in pick 169, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick174 Rnd5 Chau Smith-Wade
Chau Smith-Wade at slot 174 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick179 Rnd6 Layden Robinson
Fair-plus on Layden Robinson, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick181 Rnd6 Edefuan Ulofoshio
Taking Edefuan Ulofoshio in pick No. 181 is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. It fills a real need, too.
Pick188 Rnd6 Roger Rosengarten
Roger Rosengarten at Round 6, Pick 13 is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick192 Rnd6 Zion Tupuola-Fetui
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Zion Tupuola-Fetui at No. 192 is the proof. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick200 Rnd6 Andrew Raym
No edge and no loss on Andrew Raym in pick 200; it is a wash and a sensible one. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick220 Rnd6 JD Bertrand
JD Bertrand is a better player than the 220th overall pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick222 Rnd7 Isaiah Davis
They robbed the room for Isaiah Davis here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick224 Rnd7 Gabe Hall
A reasonable price with a little left over, Gabe Hall in the Round 7 slot. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick227 Rnd7 Brevyn Spann-Ford
They jumped the gun on Brevyn Spann-Ford, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick252 Rnd7 Nathaniel Watson
A straight-up fair deal on Nathaniel Watson at pick No. 252, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
