FutureA+
Larceny in pick 186 lands the Cardinals a D+, Iamaleava and all. Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Cardinals, and the value they bled adds up to real damage. A weekend that fought the value and lost, hence the D+.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. Every board in the league had Goosby lower, and that gap is the story.
Iamaleava at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even.
Pick Analysis
Pick21
Rnd1
Makai Lemon
In the 21st pick they get a go-to option on the outside. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick41
Rnd2
Trevor Goosby
A reach for Trevor Goosby in Round 2, Pick 9; a little patience would have been rewarded. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick72
Rnd3
Darrell Jackson Jr.
Nothing to complain about; Darrell Jackson Jr. went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick91
Rnd3
Sam Leavitt
Sam Leavitt slipping to No. 91 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick94
Rnd3
Keith Abney II
The board had Keith Abney II higher than pick No. 94, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick110
Rnd4
Earl Little Jr.
By-the-book stuff, Earl Little Jr. at the 110th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick149
Rnd5
David Oke
David Oke at the 149th pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick186
Rnd6
Nico Iamaleava
Steal is underselling it; Nico Iamaleava at No. 186 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick224
Rnd7
Drayk Bowen
A tidy little value on Drayk Bowen in Round 7, Pick 10, a step better than break-even. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
