Draft Grade — Cardinals
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
More right than wrong for the Cardinals, and a B to prove it.

There is a lot to like until you notice quarterback is still a hole. The Cardinals never got to the one that mattered most.

Reaching for Watson left real value on the table behind him. Getting Clark where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.

The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick4 Rnd1 Joe Alt
In pick 4 they get a cornerstone up front. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick27 Rnd1 Troy Franklin
In Round 1, Pick 27 they get a difference-maker at receiver at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick35 Rnd2 Kris Jenkins
Kris Jenkins in the 35th overall pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick66 Rnd3 Brandon Dorlus
Brandon Dorlus in the 66th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick71 Rnd3 Junior Colson
No edge and no loss on Junior Colson in slot 71; it is a wash and a sensible one. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick90 Rnd3 Caelen Carson
Caelen Carson in No. 90 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick105 Rnd4 Dominick Puni
A tidy little value on Dominick Puni in pick No. 105, a step better than break-even. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick137 Rnd5 Cole Bishop
Good price on Cole Bishop in the Round 5 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick188 Rnd6 Julian Pearl
Julian Pearl in pick No. 188 is fair value, right on his grade. It fits a board better than it fits this team.
Pick222 Rnd7 De'Corian Clark
De'Corian Clark in the Round 7 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick224 Rnd7 Blake Watson
They reached a country mile for Blake Watson at pick 224, and the board is aghast. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
