Draft Grade — Cardinals
Overall

FutureD
The Cardinals won the weekend at the trade table. Grade: B-. When the story of this class is written, it opens with Shaun Dolac at the 117th pick, a reach of 221 spots that the board flatly disagrees with. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
However the rest shakes out, Starks at that price is a win they earned. The phones were where this weekend was really won.
The Burke pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at running back. They punted on running back, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
Good work on the whole, with running back the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick24
Rnd1
Walter Nolen
In pick 24 they get a wrecking ball inside. A real need, handled.
Pick26
Rnd1
Mykel Williams
In No. 26 they get juice off the edge, outstanding value to boot. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick27
Rnd1
Jalon Walker
In the 27th pick they get a downhill thumper at linebacker at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick34
Rnd2
Luther Burden III
Luther Burden III slid further than he should have, and the Round 2 slot is lovely value for the wide receiver. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick36
Rnd2
Bradyn Swinson
They reached into another round for Bradyn Swinson, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick57
Rnd2
Wyatt Milum
They paid sticker price for Wyatt Milum in slot 57, and that is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick61
Rnd2
Darien Porter
Darien Porter at pick No. 61 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick62
Rnd2
Jayden Higgins
A tidy little value on Jayden Higgins in No. 62, a step better than break-even. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick65
Rnd3
Jaxson Dart
Jaxson Dart in slot 65 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick66
Rnd3
Donovan Jackson
No drama and no debate, Donovan Jackson went about where he belonged in pick 66. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick82
Rnd3
Malaki Starks
Somehow Malaki Starks was still sitting there in Round 3, Pick 18, and they pounced on premier safety value. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick83
Rnd3
Jordan Burch
Jordan Burch in the 83rd overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick91
Rnd3
Dylan Fairchild
A premium they did not need to pay, Dylan Fairchild a notch or two before his time. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick92
Rnd3
Tai Felton
Tai Felton at the 92nd pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick103
Rnd4
Elijah Arroyo
Circle this one: Elijah Arroyo at pick 103 is a fall that decides a draft. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick104
Rnd4
Ty Robinson
This one needs a full-page explanation: Ty Robinson in the 104th overall pick, miles early. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick105
Rnd4
Antwaun Powell-Ryland
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Antwaun Powell-Ryland. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick111
Rnd4
Tory Horton
Tory Horton in pick No. 111 lands just on the right side of the ledger. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick116
Rnd4
Cody Simon
Cody Simon at the 116th pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick117
Rnd4
Shaun Dolac
A big swing on Shaun Dolac at Round 4, Pick 15, well ahead of any board in the building. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick128
Rnd4
Willie Lampkin
Value said wait; Willie Lampkin in slot 128 says they were not listening. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick133
Rnd4
Hayden Conner
Hayden Conner at No. 133 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick134
Rnd4
Denzel Burke
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Denzel Burke adds a cornerback and leaves running back untouched.
