Draft Grade — Cardinals
Overall

A respectable, level-headed haul for the Cardinals: B-. The Jowon Briggs pick is the one that will follow the Cardinals into the fall. They took him 49 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so.
The Harden pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. The Hart pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with quarterback, edge rusher and other spots still on the board.
Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick Analysis
Pick4
Rnd1
Malik Nabers
In the 4th pick they get a true top target. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick27
Rnd1
Troy Fautanu
In the Round 1 slot they get a building block for the line at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick35
Rnd2
Xavier Legette
Xavier Legette at pick No. 35 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick66
Rnd3
Ruke Orhorhoro
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Ruke Orhorhoro. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick90
Rnd3
Max Melton
Value with a capital V on Max Melton in No. 90, a genuine coup. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick104
Rnd4
Cam Hart
A curious use of the 104th overall pick. Quarterback, edge rusher and other spots needed the pick; a cornerback in Cam Hart did not.
Pick138
Rnd5
Johnny Wilson
Johnny Wilson in pick 138 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick162
Rnd5
Cody Schrader
Cody Schrader in pick No. 162 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick186
Rnd6
Delmar Glaze
They took Delmar Glaze at par in the 186th pick, which is nothing to complain about. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick220
Rnd6
Jowon Briggs
A real head-scratcher, Jowon Briggs in Round 6, Pick 45 is miles ahead of his ranking. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick226
Rnd7
JD Bertrand
JD Bertrand at the 226th overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The roster fit checks out.
Pick246
Rnd7
Myles Harden
Taking Myles Harden in slot 246 is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
