Draft Grade — Cardinals
Overall

FutureA+
The Cardinals fleeced the room on the phones and earned a A-. The trade table was a mismatch, and the Cardinals were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value.
The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Reaching for Guerendo left real value on the table behind him.
The Newton pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. The Kenneth Walker III pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.
A strong weekend's work, and a rare one to find this little fault with.
Pick Analysis
Pick16
Rnd1
Byron Murphy II
In the 16th pick they get a run-stuffing presence up front. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick27
Rnd1
Brian Thomas Jr.
In pick 27 they get a go-to option on the outside at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick35
Rnd2
Xavier Legette
Xavier Legette at the 35th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick66
Rnd3
T.J. Tampa
T.J. Tampa at slot 66 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick71
Rnd3
Ruke Orhorhoro
Ruke Orhorhoro at the Round 3 slot is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick81
Rnd3
Austin Booker
Nothing to complain about; Austin Booker went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick90
Rnd3
Brandon Dorlus
Brandon Dorlus at Round 3, Pick 27 is money in the bank, a edge rusher taken below his worth. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick104
Rnd4
Isaac Guerendo
Isaac Guerendo in No. 104 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick138
Rnd5
Josh Newton
Nice patience on Josh Newton, who had no business lasting to the 138th overall pick. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick162
Rnd5
Tykee Smith
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Tykee Smith. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
