The Commanders cashed the board's mistake on Henderson: B. You could see the war room lean forward. TreVeyon Henderson at Round 4, Pick 31 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
The cost of the Dellinger reach is exactly the players who went right after him. They will regret leaving cornerback for another day if the season turns on it.
The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the cornerback spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick29
Rnd1
Josh Conerly Jr.
In the Round 1 slot they get a cornerstone up front at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick63
Rnd2
Tyler Warren
They barely believed it either: Tyler Warren still on the board at Round 2, Pick 31. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick79
Rnd3
Malaki Starks
Circle this one: Malaki Starks at No. 79 is a fall that decides a draft. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick132
Rnd4
TreVeyon Henderson
Taking TreVeyon Henderson in pick 132 is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. The roster fit checks out.
Pick148
Rnd5
Pat Bryant
No edge and no loss on Pat Bryant in the 148th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick207
Rnd6
Kyle Williams
They paid sticker price for Kyle Williams in pick No. 207, and that is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick238
Rnd7
Clay Webb
Good price on Clay Webb in the 238th pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick250
Rnd7
Garrett Dellinger
A big swing on Garrett Dellinger at slot 250, well ahead of any board in the building. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
