The steal of the weekend belongs to the Chargers and Gordon II: B.

Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Ollie Gordon II got past him. The Chargers do not have to explain a thing at the 209th pick.

That cornerback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The cost of the Judkins reach is exactly the players who went right after him.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes. Nothing gained and nothing lost at the table.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick22 Rnd1 Tetairoa McMillan
In pick 22 they get a difference-maker at receiver, and a steal at that. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick55 Rnd2 Quinshon Judkins
Quinshon Judkins in pick No. 55 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick86 Rnd3 Tre Harris
A wide receiver of that caliber at the Round 3 slot is the definition of value, full stop. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick158 Rnd5 Jalen Rivers
They paid sticker price for Jalen Rivers in No. 158, and that is fine. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick181 Rnd6 Antwaun Powell-Ryland
The board fumbled Antwaun Powell-Ryland all the way to Round 6, Pick 5, and they scooped it up. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick199 Rnd6 Jaylen Reed
Jaylen Reed slipping to the 199th pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick209 Rnd6 Ollie Gordon II
They robbed the room for Ollie Gordon II here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick214 Rnd6 Thomas Fidone II
Thomas Fidone II at slot 214 is money in the bank, a tight end taken below his worth. It fills a real need, too.
Pick256 Rnd7 Zeek Biggers
No edge and no loss on Zeek Biggers in Round 7, Pick 40; it is a wash and a sensible one. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
