When a board-topper like Lander Barton slides to Round 4, Pick 7, you do not overthink it, and the Patriots did not. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B+.

They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. Every board in the league had Gordon II lower, and that gap is the story. The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.

The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
