Draft Grade — Packers
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
Good, not great, for the Packers: B-.

Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Packers spent No. 219 on Sam Hartman, a name most had 40 spots down the list.

Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Randolph Jr.. They punted on tight end, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Nate Wiggins
In the 25th pick they get a sticky cover corner. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick41 Rnd2 Keon Coleman
Keon Coleman at Round 2, Pick 9 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick58 Rnd2 Cooper Beebe
They went early on Cooper Beebe in pick 58, and the value did not follow. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick88 Rnd3 Trey Benson
They paid sticker price for Trey Benson in pick No. 88, and that is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick91 Rnd3 Cole Bishop
They jumped the gun on Cole Bishop, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick126 Rnd4 Roger Rosengarten
Roger Rosengarten in the Round 4 slot is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick169 Rnd5 Nehemiah Pritchett
Nehemiah Pritchett at the 169th overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick202 Rnd6 Steele Chambers
Steele Chambers in the 202nd pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick219 Rnd6 Sam Hartman
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Sam Hartman well ahead of where he belonged. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick245 Rnd7 Keith Randolph Jr.
A top-tier edge rusher at a bargain, Keith Randolph Jr. in pick 245, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick255 Rnd7 Dominique Hampton
You do not let a safety like Dominique Hampton reach the Round 7 slot and blink. They did not. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
