Draft Grade — Browns
Overall C+
ValueB- NeedA- TradesF FutureB
Quarterback settled, Ward in the fold, and a C+ for the Browns.

The Browns spent the pick that matters most on Cam Ward, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape.

Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Jones Jr.. Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. Marshall Jr. has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher.

It grades out a shrug today, with plenty of room to move either way.

Pick Analysis
Pick2 Rnd1 Cam Ward
In pick No. 2 they get a passer to set the clock by at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick33 Rnd2 Emeka Egbuka
Emeka Egbuka at No. 33 is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick67 Rnd3 Shemar Turner
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Shemar Turner. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick94 Rnd3 Devin Neal
A tidy bit of business in the Round 3 slot, where Devin Neal graded well above the range. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick104 Rnd4 Andrew Mukuba
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Andrew Mukuba in slot 104, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick149 Rnd5 Emery Jones Jr.
They barely believed it either: Emery Jones Jr. still on the board at the 149th overall pick. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick174 Rnd5 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
No drama and no debate, Dont'e Thornton Jr. went about where he belonged in the 174th pick. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick175 Rnd5 Jason Marshall Jr.
Jason Marshall Jr. at pick 175 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
