FutureC
The Bears found their guy under center in Williams: D-. You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Bears did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high.
Whatever Caleb Williams becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Reaching for Glaze left real value on the table behind him. The Hadden steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
In the end, a class the front office will want to grow past quickly.
Pick Analysis
Pick1
Rnd1
Caleb Williams
Caleb Williams at the Round 1 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick9
Rnd1
Olumuyiwa Fashanu
In No. 9 they get a cornerstone up front. A real need, handled.
Pick26
Rnd1
Brian Thomas Jr.
In the 26th overall pick they get a matchup problem out wide at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick58
Rnd2
Calen Bullock
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Calen Bullock at pick 58 is the proof. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick75
Rnd3
Cooper Beebe
Cooper Beebe at the 75th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick111
Rnd4
Khyree Jackson
Khyree Jackson at slot 111 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick123
Rnd4
Cedric Gray
Cedric Gray at pick No. 123 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick153
Rnd5
Delmar Glaze
Delmar Glaze at Round 5, Pick 17 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick154
Rnd5
Kamal Hadden
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Kamal Hadden in No. 154. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
