Draft Grade — Bears
Overall D
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureB+
A passer of the future in Williams, and a D, for the Bears.

The Bears lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again.

Whatever Caleb Williams becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain.

Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, interior defensive lineman very much included.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
In pick 1 they get a passer to set the clock by at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick11 Rnd1 Jared Verse
In the Round 1 slot they get a bendy edge with upside. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick34 Rnd2 Tyler Nubin
Tyler Nubin in Round 2, Pick 2 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick62 Rnd2 Xavier Worthy
Xavier Worthy at No. 62 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick111 Rnd4 Braelon Allen
Braelon Allen at the 111th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick143 Rnd5 Kalen King
Kalen King at slot 143 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
