Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesC FutureC+
The Bears finally solved quarterback, and it carried them to a B-.

The Bears spent the pick that matters most on Caleb Williams, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.

They will need McCormick to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. They punted on running back, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but running back.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
In Round 1, Pick 1 they get their quarterback of the future. A real need, handled.
Pick12 Rnd1 Jared Verse
A straight-up fair deal on Jared Verse at slot 12, value and slot in agreement. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick49 Rnd2 Payton Wilson
They paid up for Payton Wilson at pick No. 49 when waiting would have done the job. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick50 Rnd2 Ruke Orhorhoro
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Ruke Orhorhoro well ahead of where he belonged. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick97 Rnd3 Cam Hart
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Cam Hart. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick122 Rnd4 Mason McCormick
Mason McCormick at the 122nd pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
