FutureA+
Quarterback settled, Williams in the fold, and a D for the Bears. Somebody took the Bears to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it.
Caleb Williams is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. The Limmer reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
The Hicks steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and edge rusher is still a hole.
Pick Analysis
Pick2
Rnd1
Caleb Williams
In slot 2 they get a franchise quarterback. A real need, handled.
Pick9
Rnd1
Olumuyiwa Fashanu
In the Round 1 slot they get a cornerstone up front at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick35
Rnd2
Terrion Arnold
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Terrion Arnold at the 35th overall pick is the proof. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick44
Rnd2
Xavier Legette
They paid sticker price for Xavier Legette in pick 44, and that is fine. The roster fit checks out.
Pick83
Rnd3
Brenden Rice
Brenden Rice at No. 83 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick110
Rnd4
Cooper Beebe
A straight-up fair deal on Cooper Beebe at Round 4, Pick 10, value and slot in agreement. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick123
Rnd4
Jahdae Barron
Good price on Jahdae Barron in the 123rd pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick127
Rnd4
Beaux Limmer
They went early on Beaux Limmer in pick No. 127, and the value did not follow. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick146
Rnd5
Jaden Hicks
Jaden Hicks at the Round 5 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick181
Rnd6
Andru Phillips
Andru Phillips is a better player than pick 181 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick186
Rnd6
Julian Pearl
They did well to land Julian Pearl in pick No. 186, just ahead of his grade. A pick in search of a role on this roster.
Pick220
Rnd6
Jase McClellan
Jase McClellan in the 220th overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick232
Rnd7
De'Corian Clark
A wide receiver of that caliber at slot 232 is the definition of value, full stop. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
