A franchise passer in Williams headlines a A- weekend for the Bears.

The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Bears spent their marquee pick on Caleb Williams, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.

They banked enough surplus on Smith to cover a lot of smaller sins. The dealing alone would carry a lesser class.

For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain.

Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Caleb Williams and all.
