Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Chiefs spent pick No. 171 on Kelby Collins, a name most had 41 spots down the list.

Landing Thieneman that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
