Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Chiefs were there to profit. Avery Johnson, the No. 214 name on the board, should have been long gone before slot 257.

For all the activity, tight end went untouched, which is hard to explain. They will need Mahlman to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
