Good, not great, for the Chiefs: B. Boards are made to be trusted, and the Chiefs shredded theirs for Tristan Leigh. He came off 61 spots early, and the room will hear about it.
The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Landing Love that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick Analysis
Pick17
Rnd1
Jeremiyah Love
In the 17th pick they get an every-down engine for the run game, and a steal at that. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick67
Rnd3
A'Mauri Washington
They took A'Mauri Washington at par in the Round 3 slot, which is nothing to complain about. It fills a real need, too.
Pick81
Rnd3
Xavier Chaplin
They paid sticker price for Xavier Chaplin in the 81st overall pick, and that is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick109
Rnd4
Emmanuel McNeil-Warren
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Emmanuel McNeil-Warren. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick117
Rnd4
Kenyatta Jackson Jr.
No drama and no debate, Kenyatta Jackson Jr. went about where he belonged in Round 4, Pick 17. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick157
Rnd5
Jacob Rodriguez
By-the-book stuff, Jacob Rodriguez at pick No. 157 squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick176
Rnd5
Oscar Delp
They paid up for Oscar Delp at the Round 5 slot when waiting would have done the job. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick188
Rnd6
Tristan Leigh
They talked themselves into Tristan Leigh at pick No. 188, and the board did not agree. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
