The Chiefs got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the C-.

There is conviction, and then there is this. The Chiefs took Damien Martinez a full 35 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend. The good and the questionable cancel out to a C-.

The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain.

Getting Arroyo where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. On the needs board they went 7 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.

If Josh Simmons and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
