Draft Grade — Bears
Overall D
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureA-
The Bears drew a line under the quarterback search with Williams: D.

The phones were a trap the Bears kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal. Hard to defend, and the D reflects that.

Everything downstream of Caleb Williams depends on Caleb Williams, and the building knows it. That running back hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

They are betting Van Pran proves the room right and everyone else wrong. However the rest shakes out, Williams at that price is a win they earned.

In short, the board sent warnings, and they will be hoping it was wrong.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
In Round 1, Pick 1 they get a franchise quarterback at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick12 Rnd1 Jer'Zhan Newton
In the 12th overall pick they get a load in the middle. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick43 Rnd2 Adonai Mitchell
Adonai Mitchell at pick No. 43 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick75 Rnd3 Sedrick Van Pran
Sedrick Van Pran at No. 75 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick110 Rnd4 Cooper Beebe
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Cooper Beebe. It fills a real need, too.
Pick122 Rnd4 Kris Abrams-Draine
A reasonable price with a little left over, Kris Abrams-Draine in slot 122. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick127 Rnd4 Mohamed Kamara
Mohamed Kamara at the Round 4 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick146 Rnd5 Cole Bishop
No edge and no loss on Cole Bishop in the 146th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick186 Rnd6 Christian Jones
They did well to land Christian Jones in No. 186, just ahead of his grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick232 Rnd7 Isaiah Williams
A quiet steal in pick No. 232: Isaiah Williams for less than the market said. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
