The Steelers lost the trade table, and the D- tells the story.

The Steelers did not so much draft Carson Steele as overpay for him, 57 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend. A weekend that fought the value and lost, hence the D-.

Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The Powers-Johnson pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with interior defensive lineman, edge rusher and other spots still on the board.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, interior defensive lineman very much included.

In No. 16 they get a blindside protector at fair value. Need was not the driver here.

Quinn Ewers at Round 2, Pick 16 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the quarterback. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.

The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went offensive lineman with Jackson Powers-Johnson while clear needs at interior defensive lineman, edge rusher and other spots sat open.
