The board owed the 49ers one, and it paid up: Nicholas Singleton, the No. 104 name on the board, sitting there at Round 7, Pick 17 like a gift left on the doorstep.

Bernard has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want.

A rough weekend that leaves the roster with more questions than answers.
