Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall

ValueA-

FutureB-
Grand theft in pick No. 237: the 49ers steal Singleton and grade out a D. When a board-topper like Nicholas Singleton slides to No. 237, you do not overthink it, and the 49ers did not. The math is unkind, and the D follows.
The Cypress II reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back.
For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.
In short, the board sent warnings, and they will be hoping it was wrong.
Pick Analysis
Pick18
Rnd1
Walter Nolen
Walter Nolen at the 18th pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick19
Rnd1
Princely Umanmielen
In No. 19 they get juice off the edge at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick50
Rnd2
Jahdae Barron
Taking Jahdae Barron in the 50th overall pick is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick82
Rnd3
Dylan Fairchild
Steal is underselling it; Dylan Fairchild at slot 82 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick101
Rnd3
Jake Majors
They will replay Jake Majors at Round 3, Pick 37 for years; that is how good the value is. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick119
Rnd4
Tyler Warren
A tight end of that caliber at pick No. 119 is the definition of value, full stop. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick194
Rnd6
Jihaad Campbell
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Jihaad Campbell in the Round 6 slot, plain and simple. The roster fit checks out.
Pick237
Rnd7
Nicholas Singleton
Nicholas Singleton at pick 237 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick249
Rnd7
Jared Wilson
Somehow Jared Wilson was still sitting there in pick 249, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick255
Rnd7
Kyren Lacy
Kyren Lacy in the Round 7 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick256
Rnd7
Fentrell Cypress II
Fentrell Cypress II at slot 256 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A minor itch, scratched.
