Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall D
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesF FutureB-
The Cowboys lost the trade table, and the D tells the story.

The trade table was where it all came apart. The Cowboys shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill.

That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The Benson pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. On value alone, Smith makes the weekend a net positive.

They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

A rough weekend that leaves the roster with more questions than answers.

Pick Analysis
Pick13 Rnd1 JC Latham
In slot 13 they get a plug-and-play piece up front at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick24 Rnd1 Brian Thomas Jr.
In the 24th overall pick they get a matchup problem out wide. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick44 Rnd2 Jordan Morgan
A tidy little value on Jordan Morgan in Round 2, Pick 12, a step better than break-even. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick56 Rnd2 Braden Fiske
No edge and no loss on Braden Fiske in pick No. 56; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick77 Rnd3 Trey Benson
A conviction pick on Trey Benson at No. 77 that the board grades a round light. The roster fit checks out.
Pick87 Rnd3 Kris Abrams-Draine
Kris Abrams-Draine at the Round 3 slot nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick112 Rnd4 Cedric Gray
A straight-up fair deal on Cedric Gray at pick 112, value and slot in agreement. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick148 Rnd5 Jaylin Simpson
A tidy bit of business in the 148th pick, where Jaylin Simpson graded well above the range. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick174 Rnd5 Tykee Smith
Tykee Smith slipping to No. 174 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick216 Rnd6 Ryan Flournoy
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Ryan Flournoy at the Round 6 slot is the proof. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick233 Rnd7 Trevin Wallace
Trevin Wallace in the 233rd pick is fair value, right on his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick244 Rnd7 Bub Means
Bub Means at Round 7, Pick 24 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
