Draft Grade — Bills
Overall D+
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesF FutureB-
The Bills bled value on every deal, hence the D+.

Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Bills, and the value they bled adds up to real damage. A weekend that fought the value and lost, hence the D+.

They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it. McCaffrey falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. Linebacker is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

The offense got the lion's share of the attention.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and interior defensive lineman is still a hole.

Pick Analysis
Pick28 Rnd1 Brian Thomas Jr.
In the Round 1 slot they get a go-to option on the outside. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick42 Rnd2 Edgerrin Cooper
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Edgerrin Cooper. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick60 Rnd2 Zach Frazier
They took Zach Frazier at par in Round 2, Pick 28, which is nothing to complain about. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick128 Rnd4 Johnny Wilson
A tidy little value on Johnny Wilson in pick No. 128, a step better than break-even. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick129 Rnd4 Roger Rosengarten
A straight-up fair deal on Roger Rosengarten at the 129th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick144 Rnd5 Trevor Keegan
They paid sticker price for Trevor Keegan in No. 144, and that is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick160 Rnd5 Brennan Jackson
Good price on Brennan Jackson in slot 160, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick163 Rnd5 Luke McCaffrey
Luke McCaffrey slipping to the 163rd pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
