FutureB-
Grand theft in pick 93: the Packers steal James and grade out a B-. When a board-topper like DJ James slides to pick No. 93, you do not overthink it, and the Packers did not.
If Okie-Anoma pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick Analysis
Pick32
Rnd1
Tyler Guyton
In No. 32 they get a building block for the line. A real need, handled.
Pick41
Rnd2
Edgerrin Cooper
A conviction pick on Edgerrin Cooper at slot 41 that the board grades a round light. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick58
Rnd2
Jaylen Wright
They liked Jaylen Wright enough to skip the value, taking him in Round 2, Pick 26. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick88
Rnd3
Adisa Isaac
Somehow Adisa Isaac was still sitting there in the 88th overall pick, and they pounced on premier edge rusher value. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick91
Rnd3
Jaden Hicks
Jaden Hicks at pick No. 91 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick93
Rnd3
DJ James
DJ James at pick 93 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick95
Rnd3
DeWayne Carter
They paid sticker price for DeWayne Carter in the 95th pick, and that is fine. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick126
Rnd4
Roger Rosengarten
Roger Rosengarten at the Round 4 slot jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick159
Rnd5
Tanor Bortolini
Tanor Bortolini at the Round 5 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick165
Rnd5
Tip Reiman
They paid up for Tip Reiman at slot 165 when waiting would have done the job. The roster fit checks out.
Pick169
Rnd5
Curtis Jacobs
A wild overpay on Curtis Jacobs in the 169th pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick202
Rnd6
Jordan Magee
Jordan Magee at Round 6, Pick 27 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick219
Rnd6
Johnny Dixon
Johnny Dixon in No. 219 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick245
Rnd7
Eyabi Okie-Anoma
Eyabi Okie-Anoma at the 245th overall pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick255
Rnd7
Blake Watson
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Blake Watson well ahead of where he belonged. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
