Draft Grade — Eagles
Overall B-
ValueC NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
A solid, sensible weekend for the Eagles: B-.

The Eagles treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending the Round 5 slot on Joshua Gray a full 42 spots early.

That is an interior defensive lineman worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. That cornerback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick32 Rnd1 Donovan Ezeiruaku
In Round 1, Pick 32 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare, a steep price for the projection. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick64 Rnd2 Chris Paul Jr.
They paid up for Chris Paul Jr. at the 64th pick when waiting would have done the job. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick96 Rnd3 David Walker
David Walker at the 96th overall pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick134 Rnd4 Cam Skattebo
The board fumbled Cam Skattebo all the way to No. 134, and they scooped it up. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick161 Rnd5 Ben Sauls
By-the-book stuff, Ben Sauls at pick 161 squarely in line with his ranking. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Pick164 Rnd5 Joshua Gray
Joshua Gray at pick No. 164 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick165 Rnd5 Rylie Mills
A interior defensive lineman of that caliber at pick 165 is the definition of value, full stop. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick168 Rnd5 Antwane Wells Jr.
A wild overpay on Antwane Wells Jr. in Round 5, Pick 30, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
