The board owed the Chargers one, and it paid up: CJ West, the No. 187 name on the board, sitting there at pick No. 209 like a gift left on the doorstep.

Every board in the league had Evans lower, and that gap is the story. They will regret leaving wide receiver for another day if the season turns on it. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
