Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall

FutureA+
The Patriots let Higgins fall and pounced. Final grade: A-. The Patriots ran the phones like sharks, prying loose value on deal after deal until the ledger was lopsided. They executed a plan and it shows in the A-.
On value alone, Higgins makes the weekend a net positive. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up. They are betting Allen proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Armand Membou and all.
Pick Analysis
Pick23
Rnd1
Armand Membou
In Round 1, Pick 23 they get a blindside protector at a price that makes it sweeter. A real need, handled.
Pick38
Rnd2
Josh Conerly Jr.
Josh Conerly Jr. at No. 38 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick54
Rnd2
Jonah Savaiinaea
A quiet steal in pick No. 54: Jonah Savaiinaea for less than the market said. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick69
Rnd3
Landon Jackson
They will replay Landon Jackson at slot 69 for years; that is how good the value is. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick77
Rnd3
Darien Porter
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Darien Porter. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick87
Rnd3
Jayden Higgins
Jayden Higgins in the Round 3 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick119
Rnd4
LeQuint Allen
LeQuint Allen in pick No. 119 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick144
Rnd5
Kaimon Rucker
No edge and no loss on Kaimon Rucker in pick 144; it is a wash and a sensible one. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick153
Rnd5
Bhayshul Tuten
They paid sticker price for Bhayshul Tuten in No. 153, and that is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick217
Rnd7
Tahj Brooks
Tahj Brooks at the 217th pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
