Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Patriots spent the 247th overall pick on Ethan Downs, a name the board had a full 39 spots lower.

Landing West that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. The phones were where this weekend was really won. For all the activity, safety went untouched, which is hard to explain.

The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but safety.
