Draft Grade — Panthers
Overall

FutureB-
The Panthers bled value on every deal, hence the D-. You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Panthers did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high. A D- that will need time and luck to look better.
Every board in the league had Jefferson lower, and that gap is the story. They will regret leaving linebacker for another day if the season turns on it. The Hart pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.
Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 6 of 9 of the wish list covered.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, linebacker very much included.
Pick Analysis
Pick21
Rnd1
Chop Robinson
In slot 21 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick33
Rnd2
Adonai Mitchell
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Adonai Mitchell. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick65
Rnd3
Cooper Beebe
A reach for Cooper Beebe in the 65th overall pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick102
Rnd4
Cam Hart
Cam Hart at pick 102 is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick141
Rnd5
Theo Johnson
They did well to land Theo Johnson in the Round 5 slot, just ahead of his grade. The roster fit checks out.
Pick165
Rnd5
Jordan Jefferson
A big swing on Jordan Jefferson at Round 5, Pick 29, well ahead of any board in the building. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick180
Rnd6
Kendall Milton
Kendall Milton in No. 180 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
