Draft Grade — Bears
Overall D+
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureB
The Bears bet the future on Williams. The board says D+.

Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Bears, and the value they bled adds up to real damage. A weekend that fought the value and lost, hence the D+.

They have staked the next five years on Caleb Williams, which is the only story that really matters here. The running back hole is the one line item this class does not answer. That Jackson pick is the receipt they will wave around later.

Every board in the league had Hall Jr. lower, and that gap is the story.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
In the Round 1 slot they get their guy under center for the next decade. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick28 Rnd1 Jared Verse
In No. 28 they get juice off the edge at a price that makes it sweeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick35 Rnd2 Brian Thomas Jr.
A quiet steal in Round 2, Pick 3: Brian Thomas Jr. for less than the market said. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick41 Rnd2 Nate Wiggins
Nate Wiggins at pick 41 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick51 Rnd2 Kingsley Suamataia
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Kingsley Suamataia. It fills a real need, too.
Pick69 Rnd3 Michael Hall Jr.
A reach for Michael Hall Jr. in slot 69; a little patience would have been rewarded. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick75 Rnd3 Kamren Kinchens
Kamren Kinchens at the 75th overall pick is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick92 Rnd3 Dominick Puni
By-the-book stuff, Dominick Puni at the 92nd pick squarely in line with his ranking. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick212 Rnd6 Jha'Quan Jackson
Steal is underselling it; Jha'Quan Jackson at pick 212 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
