Msb DRAFTING FOR THE49ers

Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall

FutureB-
The 49ers cashed the board's mistake on Burton: B. The board owed the 49ers one, and it paid up: Jermaine Burton, the No. 57 name on the board, sitting there at the 98th overall pick like a gift left on the doorstep. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
They will need Dart to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped running back, which is a strange place to end up.
They will answer for taking defensive back early while running back, interior defensive lineman and other spots went begging.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but running back.
Pick Analysis
Pick27
Rnd1
JC Latham
In slot 27 they get a long-term starter on the line, outstanding value to boot. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick59
Rnd2
Denzel Burke
Denzel Burke at the 59th overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick90
Rnd3
Christian Haynes
Christian Haynes at pick No. 90 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick98
Rnd3
Jermaine Burton
Jermaine Burton at pick 98 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick127
Rnd4
Max Melton
They bypassed pressing needs at running back, interior defensive lineman and other spots to take Max Melton, a defensive back that was not the priority.
Pick177
Rnd6
Jamon Dumas-Johnson
Jamon Dumas-Johnson in the 177th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick205
Rnd6
Jaxson Dart
Jaxson Dart at the Round 6 slot is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. The roster fit checks out.
Pick213
Rnd6
Isaiah Adams
The board had Isaiah Adams higher than No. 213, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick215
Rnd6
Jacob Cowing
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Jacob Cowing in No. 215, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick248
Rnd7
Rylie Mills
Rylie Mills in slot 248 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
