The Dolphins landed square in the muddy middle: C+.

The Dolphins torched the value chart for Jack Pyburn, taking him 55 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted. Some smart calls, some head-scratchers, and a C+ in the wash.

However the rest shakes out, Bernard at that price is a win they earned. The Dolphins indulged a want in Moore while a need in quarterback, tight end and other spots stayed open. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

Call it incomplete, and check back in a couple of seasons.

Pick18 Rnd1 Arvell Reese
In the 18th pick they get a sideline-to-sideline linebacker, and a steal at that. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick31 Rnd1 Sonny Styles
In pick 31 they get a downhill thumper at linebacker at a price that makes it sweeter. A real need, handled.
Pick43 Rnd2 D'Angelo Ponds
No edge and no loss on D'Angelo Ponds in the 43rd overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick75 Rnd3 Devin Moore
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Devin Moore adds a cornerback and leaves quarterback, tight end and other spots untouched.
Pick87 Rnd3 Keyron Crawford
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Keyron Crawford well ahead of where he belonged. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick90 Rnd3 Bryce Lance
A real head-scratcher, Bryce Lance in pick No. 90 is miles ahead of his ranking. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick95 Rnd3 Germie Bernard
Germie Bernard at the 95th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick111 Rnd4 Bud Clark
They went early on Bud Clark in the 111th pick, and the value did not follow. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick151 Rnd5 Beau Stephens
A reasonable price with a little left over, Beau Stephens in the Round 5 slot. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.

Keagen Trost in pick 153 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It fills a real need, too.

Zxavian Harris at slot 212 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.

They paid sticker price for TJ Hall in Round 6, Pick 34, and that is fine. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.

A big swing on Jack Pyburn at pick No. 227, well ahead of any board in the building. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.

They reached a country mile for Robert Spears-Jennings at No. 242, and the board is aghast. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
