Draft Grade — Commanders

FutureA
The Commanders let Ulofoshio fall and pounced. Final grade: B+. The real work happened on the phones. The Commanders fleeced their trade partners, turning their picks into a noticeably bigger pile than they started with.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Ulofoshio. Every board in the league had Frazier lower, and that gap is the story.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Tyler Guyton
In pick 25 they get a long-term starter on the line, though they paid up to get him. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick36
Rnd2
Chop Robinson
They paid sticker price for Chop Robinson in pick No. 36, and that is fine. The roster fit checks out.
Pick40
Rnd2
Devontez Walker
They took Devontez Walker at par in the Round 2 slot, which is nothing to complain about. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick41
Rnd2
Zach Frazier
They reached into another round for Zach Frazier, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick57
Rnd2
Payton Wilson
They jumped the gun on Payton Wilson, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick67
Rnd3
Javon Bullard
Javon Bullard in the 67th pick is fair value, right on his grade. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick100
Rnd3
Khyree Jackson
No edge and no loss on Khyree Jackson in pick No. 100; it is a wash and a sensible one. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick102
Rnd4
Ray Davis
A straight-up fair deal on Ray Davis at Round 4, Pick 2, value and slot in agreement. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick141
Rnd5
Theo Johnson
They paid a round early for Theo Johnson in the 141st pick, more than the board wanted. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick181
Rnd6
Edefuan Ulofoshio
Edefuan Ulofoshio at the Round 6 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick223
Rnd7
Trevor Keegan
Trevor Keegan at pick 223 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
