The Robinson reach set the tone, and the Bills never recovered: F. It is the swing that defines the weekend: Tayvion Robinson in Round 6, Pick 27, a good 135 spots before the room expected him. A weekend to file away and forget, and an F to match.
They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped linebacker, which is a strange place to end up.
However the rest shakes out, Simpson at that price is a win they earned. Spend now, pay later; the math only works if this class delivers.
There is no soft landing here: they fought the board and left linebacker open, and the grade is the bill.
Pick Analysis
Pick28
Rnd1
Xavier Legette
In pick 28 they get a matchup problem out wide at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick30
Rnd1
Chop Robinson
In No. 30 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare, though they paid up to get him.
Pick34
Rnd2
T'Vondre Sweat
This one needs a full-page explanation: T'Vondre Sweat in slot 34, miles early. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick60
Rnd2
Kiran Amegadjie
Kiran Amegadjie at the 60th overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick82
Rnd3
Khyree Jackson
Khyree Jackson at the Round 3 slot is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick99
Rnd3
Mohamed Kamara
Mohamed Kamara in the 99th pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It fills a real need, too.
Pick128
Rnd4
Luke McCaffrey
They went early on Luke McCaffrey in the Round 4 slot, and the value did not follow. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick162
Rnd5
Gabe Hall
A real head-scratcher, Gabe Hall in No. 162 is miles ahead of his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick165
Rnd5
Jaylin Simpson
Jaylin Simpson in the 165th overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick197
Rnd6
Jalen Green
They paid up for Jalen Green at pick 197 when waiting would have done the job. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick202
Rnd6
Tayvion Robinson
They reached a country mile for Tayvion Robinson at the 202nd pick, and the board is aghast. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick206
Rnd6
Erick All
No edge and no loss on Erick All in pick No. 206; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick249
Rnd7
Richard Jibunor
They left a pile of value on the table to take Richard Jibunor this early at Round 7, Pick 29. Not a spot anyone had flagged, which makes it a head-scratcher.
