Draft Grade — Bills
Overall D
ValueB- NeedB TradesF FutureB
The Bills lost the trade table, and the D tells the story.

The war room fell hard for Dylan McMahon, and it showed at the 202nd pick: 32 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas. Put together, it is a D.

The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it.

However the rest shakes out, Simpson at that price is a win they earned. The Bills paired the rookies with proven help, Tyler Allgeier leading the way.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and interior defensive lineman is still a hole.

Pick Analysis
Pick32 Rnd1 Adonai Mitchell
In pick 32 they get a difference-maker at receiver. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick43 Rnd2 Kalen King
Kalen King in slot 43 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick60 Rnd2 Javon Bullard
They took Javon Bullard at par in No. 60, which is nothing to complain about. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick128 Rnd4 Tommy Eichenberg
Tommy Eichenberg in the 128th overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick134 Rnd4 Keith Randolph Jr.
Keith Randolph Jr. in pick No. 134 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It fills a real need, too.
Pick165 Rnd5 Jaylin Simpson
The board fumbled Jaylin Simpson all the way to the Round 5 slot, and they scooped it up. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick197 Rnd6 Christian Jones
A clean, defensible pick in No. 197 with a little surplus value in Christian Jones. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick202 Rnd6 Dylan McMahon
Dylan McMahon in pick No. 202 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick206 Rnd6 Brian Ugwu
No drama and no debate, Brian Ugwu went about where he belonged in slot 206. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick249 Rnd7 Jordan Whittington
They liked Jordan Whittington enough to skip the value, taking him in Round 7, Pick 29. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
