Draft Grade — Buccaneers
Overall

FutureB-
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Buccaneers: B-. It is the swing that defines the weekend: Seth McLaughlin in pick No. 148, a good 24 spots before the room expected him. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up. That Watts pick is the receipt they will wave around later.
On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with offensive lineman the one that mattered most. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick41
Rnd2
Jihaad Campbell
Fair-plus on Jihaad Campbell, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick53
Rnd2
Xavier Watts
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Xavier Watts at Round 2, Pick 21 is the proof. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick72
Rnd3
Jordan Burch
Jordan Burch in pick No. 72 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It fills a real need, too.
Pick82
Rnd3
Ashton Gillotte
Ashton Gillotte at the 82nd overall pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick87
Rnd3
Isaiah Bond
They let Isaiah Bond come to them and pounced at the Round 3 slot. The roster fit checks out.
Pick117
Rnd4
Jacob Parrish
By-the-book stuff, Jacob Parrish at No. 117 squarely in line with his ranking. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick148
Rnd5
Seth McLaughlin
They reached into another round for Seth McLaughlin, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick151
Rnd5
Emery Jones Jr.
Nothing to complain about; Emery Jones Jr. went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick221
Rnd7
Robert Longerbeam
Robert Longerbeam at Round 7, Pick 5 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A need, and now a little less of one.
