Draft Grade — Buccaneers
Overall

ValueC-

FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Buccaneers a B-. There is reaching, and then there is Mitchell Melton at pick No. 234. The Buccaneers jumped the board by 160 and dared it to prove them wrong.
Landing Green that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. For all the activity, running back went untouched, which is hard to explain. It is not that Rodriguez is a bad player; it is that the Buccaneers had louder needs to answer first.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick Analysis
Pick33
Rnd2
Quincy Rhodes Jr.
A conviction pick on Quincy Rhodes Jr. at the Round 2 slot that the board grades a round light. The roster fit checks out.
Pick37
Rnd2
Olaivavega Ioane
A reach on Olaivavega Ioane in the 37th overall pick; the board had better options right there. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick49
Rnd2
Sonny Styles
Fair-plus on Sonny Styles, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick50
Rnd2
Cayden Green
They talked themselves into Cayden Green at the 50th pick, and the board did not agree. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick83
Rnd3
Joe Royer
No edge and no loss on Joe Royer in Round 3, Pick 19; it is a wash and a sensible one. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick102
Rnd4
Julian Neal
A tidy bit of business in slot 102, where Julian Neal graded well above the range. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick119
Rnd4
Emmanuel McNeil-Warren
A reasonable price with a little left over, Emmanuel McNeil-Warren in the 119th pick. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick121
Rnd4
Jacob Rodriguez
They bypassed pressing needs at running back to take Jacob Rodriguez, a linebacker that was not the priority.
Pick126
Rnd4
Jalon Kilgore
A want over a need in No. 126: Jalon Kilgore adds a safety while running back keeps waiting.
Pick134
Rnd4
Davison Igbinosun
Davison Igbinosun at slot 134 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick139
Rnd4
Trey Moore
Value said wait; Trey Moore in pick 139 says they were not listening. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick159
Rnd5
Josh Moten
A wild overpay on Josh Moten in Round 5, Pick 19, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It fills a real need, too.
Pick160
Rnd5
Bryce Boettcher
They reached a country mile for Bryce Boettcher at pick No. 160, and the board is aghast. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick173
Rnd5
Lee Hunter
Lee Hunter at the 173rd overall pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick183
Rnd6
Rasheem Biles
A real head-scratcher, Rasheem Biles in the 183rd overall pick is miles ahead of his ranking. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick200
Rnd6
Evan Stewart
Evan Stewart in the 200th pick is fair value, right on his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick209
Rnd6
Taylen Green
Taylen Green in pick No. 209 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick217
Rnd7
Pat Coogan
They reached into another round for Pat Coogan, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick227
Rnd7
Barion Brown
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Barion Brown well ahead of where he belonged. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick234
Rnd7
Mitchell Melton
Mitchell Melton at Round 7, Pick 19 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
