FutureD
A masterclass at the trade table lands the Buccaneers a B-. It is the swing that defines the weekend: Kyle Louis in the 86th pick, a good 53 spots before the room expected him.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. The Louis pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with edge rusher, quarterback and other spots still on the board. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick22
Rnd1
Avieon Terrell
In No. 22 they get an island corner. A real need, handled.
Pick54
Rnd2
CJ Allen
A slide stopped in pick 54, with CJ Allen worth more than the price. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick86
Rnd3
Kyle Louis
A want over a need in the Round 3 slot: Kyle Louis adds a linebacker while edge rusher, quarterback and other spots keeps waiting.
Pick104
Rnd4
Oscar Delp
They went early on Oscar Delp in the 104th pick, and the value did not follow. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick122
Rnd4
DeMonte Capehart
A premium they did not need to pay, DeMonte Capehart a notch or two before his time. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick171
Rnd5
Bryce Foster
They paid sticker price for Bryce Foster in the 171st overall pick, and that is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
